This year, I decided to take my own holiday photos. I’ve been practicing my photography skills and I really love how my tree came out this year, so I thought that would be the perfect backdrop for Christmas card photos. My favorite item was the red and blue striped sweater. It looked great with the colors of our tree and decor. The photo above of my son is also my favorite from our photo shoot. As a mom, I LOVE shopping for my son and dressing him in cute outfits. I know this won’t last forever, so I’m really having a good time right now. I would say my style for my son is preppy but comfortable. Right now, he gets excited every time I tell him I bought him something new. He was also really excited about our holiday photo shoot and trying on 10 different things!

We also purchased the blue cords, which went great with every sweater. Please note that sizes do run a bit large for pants in my experience. My son is normally a 3T in pants and the 2T fit him perfectly. The sweaters run normal size. It could be difficult photographing a toddler. Here are some tips that helped with our holiday shoot:

• Photograph your child in the morning after breakfast or after their nap. I don’t know how many times I’ve scheduled photos at a studio and my son was cranky and miserable because it cut into his nap time.
• Turn on some music. Turn up your child’s favorite tunes or get in the spirit with some holiday music. Let them dance and sing. Then you will really be able to capture the true spirit of your child!
• Include some props. We included my son’s favorite buddies Elfie and Curious George. He really loved that his best buds got to take holiday photos with him near the Christmas tree.
• Let your child help decorate the tree or have them add special ornaments.
